How to Reset Password in SAP ?

Step-by-Step Process for Resetting your SAP

Managing SAP passwords is a routine yet critical task for SAP users, ensuring secure and continuous access to various enterprise applications. Whether you forgot your password or your account is locked due to too many incorrect login attempts, resetting your SAP password is simple. In this blog, we'll teach you the step-by-step process for resetting your SAP password yourself using AuditBOT Password Manager.

Step 1: Log into the Central SAP System

  • Log in with your SAP credentials.
  • The demo user, Sibi, is used here, but you should log in with your SAP user ID.

Step 2: Run the AuditBOT Password Manager Tool

  • Open the AuditBOT Password Manager tool from your SAP interface.

Step 3: Understand the Deployment

  • The AuditBOT Password Manager is deployed in a central SAP system chosen by the customer.
  • If you have 10 systems in your SAP landscape, you will choose one as the central system for tool deployment. The remaining 9 systems will be managed from this central system.

Step 4: Configure SAP Systems

  • From the Admin tab, navigate to the Settings sub-tab.
  • You will see a list of SAP systems with RFC connection details.
  • You can add and configure as many systems as required for your landscape, ranging from 10 to 100 systems.

Step 5: Select a System for Password Reset

  • After setting up the systems, you can choose a specific SAP system from the list to reset your password.
  • Important: You cannot reset the password for the central system where the tool is deployed because you are already logged in.
  • If you attempt to reset the central system’s password, you will see the following error:
Error message: "Target system client cannot be the same as central system."

Step 6: Attempt Password Reset for a Different System

  • After selecting a different system where your user ID exists, proceed with the reset.
  • Note: If you select a system where your user ID does not exist, an error will occur:
Error message: "You do not exist in the specific target system."

Step 7: Verify Your User Validity

  • Make sure your user validity in the target SAP system has not expired.
  • Expired accounts cannot be reset using this tool.

Step 8: Reset Your Password

  • Choose the SAP system (e.g., EP1) and client (e.g., 800).
  • The password screen will show the following fields:
    • User ID: This field is non-editable and automatically displays the ID of the logged-in user.
      • This security measure ensures that no one can reset the password of another user.

Step 9: Enter New Password

  • Click on the Change Password button, which will open the password reset window.
  • Enter your new password and confirm it.
  • Note: The tool is developed with high-security measures, preventing even ABAP developers from debugging and manipulating user IDs.

Step 10: Confirm Password Reset

  • After successfully resetting your password, you will receive a confirmation message:
    Message: "Password successfully changed."
  • You can now log into the selected SAP system (e.g., EP1 and client 800) using your new password.
